TC Gremda and TC Iles de Kerkennah 10/11/08 -18h03

The beginning of activities at the Tennis Club of Gremda

Another newborn in the tennis world. The TC Gremda. In fact, the idea to create this club registers in a logic related to the importance of Sfax town. It is inadmissible that a city as important as the capital of the South, which counts approximately 500 mille inhabitants (Large Sfax), covers only one club. No one cannot deny the role of TC Sfax, on the formation level of youngsters as well as the elite. However, young people of all the agglomerations bordering the Sfax town, with the location of Gremda, cannot afford to go without any difficulties to the tennis club of Sfax to play tennis. For this this reason and others than the creation of a new club seems salutary. It relieves congestion from the TC Sfax on one side and offers the possibility to the young people of Gremda to have a club and courts at their reach which are located at the “maison de jeunes” of this location.

The visit of the FTT’s representatives made it possible to notice, that the club has all human and equipment conditions to function well. Indeed, the good will and the enthusiasm observed among members of the Management Committee, as well as the framework and the space reserved to play tennis, forecast an unquestionable success in the realization of the needed goals. .

Here is for an indication some data concerning this new club. Members’ number: 200 registered as of today. Number of courts: 2 functional and 1 in a building process. Days of practice: every day. Number of groups: 40 groups, at a rate of 6 players per group. Number of coaches: 2.

The Tennis Club of the Kerkennah Islands starts!

Some newspapers of the location evoked, two weeks ago, the revival of the Tennis Club of the Islands of Kerkennah (TCIK). Indeed, the strong winds which blew during last weekend, on the East coast, did not stop two representatives of the Fédération Tunisienne de Tennis from going to Kerkennah, to take part in the meeting of the Management Committee of the club and speed up the effective starting of its tennistic activities. It is really a goal which was important to of all the intervenants in this field, taking into consideration the potentialities of the kerkenian youth and of its expressed interest to this discipline, during the sensitizing days organized at the school level and of the open doors organized in front of the municipality of Kerkennah, by the Fédération Tunisienne de Tennis.

In spite of the inexistence of a suitable infrastructure to start the activities of the club (problem of court assignments), as well as the non delivery of a visa, (file deposited since April 2007), authorizing these men of good will to offer a new activity, to an avid youth to play tennis, the provisional Committee, in its meeting of October 31, decided to begins the practices, on an appropriate space (2 suitable courts) at the preparatory College of Ramla. This Favour offered by the Director of this establishment, that the Committee had the honor to co-opt, indicates his love for the sport and especially, like he mentioned on several occasions, of his encouragement for any educational activity, being able to motivate the young people of Kerkennah and to move them away from any idle corrupted activity.

Congratulations and good luck for this newborn in the world of tennis!
